The Strengthening High Impact Interventions for an AIDS-free Generation (AIDSFree) Project is a five-year cooperative agreement funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (2014-2019). AIDSFree is implemented by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. with partners Abt Associates, Inc., Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, EnCompass LLC, IMA World Health, The International HIV/AIDS Alliance, Jhpiego Corporation, and PATH. AIDSFree supports and advances implementation of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief by providing capacity development and technical support to USAID missions, host-country governments, and HIV implementers at the local, regional, and national level.
AIDSFree is seeking experienced Drivers to support the AIDSFree program in Lesotho which focuses on supporting and protecting young girls and women through strengthening school based HIV and violence prevention education, changing norms within communities, increasing condom promotion and provision, and strengthening post-GBV care and post violence care structures. This person will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the fleet of project vehicles, in addition to other operational duties.
Please note that citizenship of Lesotho or possession of a Lesotho work permit is required for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains a detailed logbook of all vehicle movement and ensures that any officer taken on a trip dully signs the logbook at the end of every trip.
  • Reports to the Admin officer when the vehicle is due for either refuelling or routine maintenance. He ensures that the vehicle is adequately fuelled and serviced.
  • He ensures the safety and comfort of the passengers by making sure that passengers use their seat belts.
  • He work with the administrative department to ensure that the vehicle is properly equipped with emergency and first aid kits.
  • Washes the vehicle and ensures it is neat at all times.
  • Transports project staff on field trips around the city, states, and country as directed.
  • Assist with administrative and office support functions as needed.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school certificate required, diploma in any field a plus
  • Minimum 5 years previous driving experience, preferably with an international organization
  • Driving certification such as defensive driving a plus 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal communications
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Have good leadership skills
  • Have a good knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Ability to drive long distances
  • Be ready to travel at a very short notice
  • Proficient with the use of the computer
