Logistics Officer, Maseru, Lesotho

The Strengthening High Impact Interventions for an AIDS-free Generation (AIDSFree) Project is a five-year cooperative agreement funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (2014-2019). AIDSFree is implemented by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. with partners Abt Associates, Inc., Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, EnCompass LLC, IMA World Health, The International HIV/AIDS Alliance, Jhpiego Corporation, and PATH. AIDSFree supports and advances implementation of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief by providing capacity development and technical support to USAID missions, host-country governments, and HIV implementers at the local, regional, and national level.
AIDSFree is seeking an experienced Logistics Officer to support the AIDSFree program in Lesotho which focuses on supporting and protecting young girls and women through strengthening school based HIV and violence prevention education, changing norms within communities, increasing condom promotion and provision, and strengthening post-GBV care and post violence care structures.

Please note that citizenship of Lesotho or possession of a Lesotho work permit is required for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the logistics of commodity distribution around the program’s focus districts, conducting cross-checks to ensure items are distributed properly
  • Works closely with the companies and individuals supporting distribution efforts, including managing the MOUs and contracts the program has with them
  • Oversees the warehousing of the programs commodities
  • Ensures any local or international procurements are conducted in accordance with JSI and USAID guidelines, including designing and issuing RFQs, coordinating with vendors, collecting and evaluating bids, issuing Purchase Orders, and ensuring completion of the order per agreed-upon terms
  • Provides current freight information to the rest of the team
  • Coordinates with Home Office staff and freight forwarders on shipments 
  • Manages and maintains shipment records and documents
  • Manages the office inventory, including office equipment and promotional materials
  • Reports any defects and shortages immediately
  • Ensures that the warehouse is maintained and stock stored according to WHO and USAID guidelines and requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of four years of freight and logistics experience
  • University/college degree required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse staff and clients 
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding issues and ability to manage relationships with different freight forwarders, experience with USAID programs a plus
  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office, including databases, spreadsheets and presentations; and ability to learn new software packages
  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills required
  • Must have good attention to detail
